Shipping & Returns
Hello! We ship everyday and some Saturdays. On US Federal Holidays no mail moves - you *may* see a label print, but it will leave the next mailing day. If we take a short break for vacation, it is announced ahead of time on all social media channels and in the newsletter. Are you signed up for my emails? They often contain treasures!
Please keep shipping insurance (Package Protection) in your cart. If you take it out, you will have to file your own claim with USPS or UPS. While mistakes with the Carriers are rare, they do happen and it's best to have full coverage. We are NOT responsible nor will we replace lost shipments if you opt out of this coverage.
PRE ORDERS ship as stated in the listing -- usually these take some time to arrive. IF YOU COMBINE in stock items with a preorder they will ship TOGETHER at one time. Make a separate order if you need in-stock items sooner. Thanks!!
We DO ship to most European countries, also Australia and New Zealand through USPS or UPS if you choose it. We do NOT cover import fees or duties.
Canadian shipping is closed for now, due to tariffs and customer complaints over duties. Tariffs/duties have NOTHING to do with our company, we have no control over them.
If we made a mistake on your order OR if something arrives damaged, email us so we can fix it. The Sew Hungryhippie team strives for perfect but we are humans & are training new employees... Thank you for your grace. help@sewhungryhippie.com
Returns are accepted for damaged items and we will send you a return label. Returns for "changing your mind" are accepted at YOUR return shipping expense, and will be processed with a restocking fee of 10%
Thank you for supporting my small business! YOU have made a huge difference in my family's life and I think about it every single day.

I have already made 2 Iris messenger bags.
Very easy to follow directions. The bag has lots of space and the pockets are wonderful. I have received many compliments on the bag I use.
Well written pattern. I used beautiful printed fabric for the lining and a more conservative outer solid fabric since I am using it for business. Love the pop of the lining that shows well under the flap. When I open it, it makes me happy. The size is perfect for carrying what I need to meetings. Pockets keep things orderly inside. Suggestion: Put a magnet into the flap just to keep it well aligned when closed. (I don’t know how to install magnets for this purpose...I’ll have to research that!) I used ByAnnie Soft and Stable for interfacing for more structure and may even use a stiffer interfacing next time, maybe just in the exterior fabric. I was very satisfied and pleased with the Iris bag pattern and design, and enjoyed making it. Thank you, Natalie!
instructions for Zipper Panel (for recessed zipper) need to made as easy/relatively the same, as the Zipper Panels on the Santorini Tote. Could even just add some direction on the Iris Messenger pattern, for the sewist to refer to specific pages on the "Santorini recessed zipper online tutorial" - for an updated, easier way - with how to calculate panel dimensions for their messenger bag. Just bc the purchaser is buying the pattern later than the Santorini, they should not be shut out of updated, easier directions from same pattern designer.
The recessed zipper panels are done a different way than my Santorini pattern, but that doesn't mean it's more difficult. This pattern was out long before the Santorini Tote had recessed zipper panel hacks. I'm not trying to shut anyone out - how weird for you to say that. It doesn't appear to me you reviewed this specific pattern at all, did you make it?
