Shipping & Returns
Hello! We ship everday and some Saturdays. On US Federal Holidays no mail moves - you *may* see a label print, but it will leave the next mailing day. If we take a short break for vacation, it is announced ahead of time on all social media channels and in the newsletter. Are you signed up for my emails? They often contain treasures!
Please keep shipping insurance (Package Protection) in your cart. If you take it out, you will have to file your own claim with USPS or UPS. While mistakes with the Carriers are rare, they do happen and it's best to have full coverage.
PRE ORDERS ship as stated in the listing -- usually these take some time to arrive. IF YOU COMBINE in stock items with a preorder they will ship TOGETHER at one time. Make a separate order if you need in-stock items sooner. Thanks!!
We DO ship to Canada & most other European countries, also Australia and New Zealand through USPS or UPS if you choose it. We do NOT cover import fees.
Our mail system is pretty amazing when compared to the rest of the world and we are so grateful to the Carriers that make it happen!
Vinyl is usually rolled and either wrapped in tissue or a protective bag, and sent that way. Some vinyl (soft metallic and moonglow for example) can be folded without causing damage, you can opt to iron it from the back side as well. In any case, if your vinyl arrives with wrinkles you can simply place it in the sunshine OR use a hair dryer to warm it flat again, or iron it (wrong side only). If you think your vinyl is damaged, please email me and I will take care of you. 😊
**Soft metallic vinyl, Stardust, croc, and Moonglow vinyl CAN be ironed from the wrong side. See my Guide for Sewing Vinyl for more info.
If we made a mistake on your order OR if something arrives damaged, email us so we can fix it. The Sew Hungryhippie team strives for perfect but we are humans & are training new employees... Thank you for your grace. help@sewhungryhippie.com
Returns are accepted for damaged items and we will send you a return label. Returns for "changing your mind" are accepted at YOUR return shipping expense, and will be processed with a restocking fee of 10%
Thank you for supporting my small business! YOU have made a huge difference in my family's life and I think about it every single day.

Product Description
The Ruby Bag is a smaller-sized purse that can be worn cross-body, over the shoulder, or as a wrist pouch. It has a slightly curved top portion and a flat body. This makes it sit nicely against the body.
It finishes at 9.5" w x 8.5" H.
Sewing Level: Confident Beginner
Ruby features:
--large zipper opening for easy access
--2 slip-in lining pockets
--2 exterior zipper pockets
--2 slip-in exterior pockets
--vinyl contrast bottom
--shoulder strap
--wrist strap
--minimal interfacing

Fabrics recommended: I am using quilting cotton and vinyl for the exterior. For the lining, I am using quilting cotton. However, if you are experimental, all wovens, such as quilting cotton, lawn, broadcloth, linen, lightweight canvas, chambray, and lightweight types of denim, will work.
Materials required:
1 roll SHH vinyl OR cork (you will have leftover material to make more bags)
3/4 yard lining fabric (generous in case of miscuts)
1 yd 20" wide SF101
zippers #5 size (purchase 32" length)

The bag was is to make after I watch the video. I will be making more of them
I'm loving the class. First time I ever cut an opening for a Zipper and made a pocket!
I'll send a picture as sun as it's finished!
The Ruby bag may look small, but it is mighty! It holds a surprising amount (large iPhone, big sunglasses, credit card case, and much more) and yet it's lightweight. I made it with the gorgeous blue vinyl depicted on the pattern and a lightweight printed canvas for the top and took it with me to QuiltCon. I ended up wearing it every day because it was so easy to wear and so handy - and I got tons of compliments on it. Still do! It has quickly become one of my favorite bags - so useful, so pretty, and so easy to toss on as a crossbody and basically almost forget it's there.
I tell you all this because sometimes it's hard to just look at a pattern and know how it's going to feel on, or how useful it's going to be. This bag is aptly named because it is truly a gem! I look forward to making more.
Well done -Natalie on the video tutorial they are easy understand and I will follow when I make another Ruby bag. 👍👍👍👍😘😘😘😘
Very informative with tips to make it even easier.
