10 Community Makes That Show Why Hundreds of Makers Love the Jefferson Bag Pattern

The Jefferson Bag was featured as our January Hippie Makers Club project, and it quickly became a community favorite.

The original kit featured Sew Hungry Hippie's Bonded Nylon, but that didn't stop the creativity. Makers added vinyl accents, fabric prints, extra pockets, and plenty of personal touches along the way.

Today I'm sharing 10 Jefferson Bags made by our amazing community. I hope they inspire you to make one of your own!

I originally designed the Jefferson as a lunch bag or snack tote, but makers quickly found all sorts of ways to use it. I've seen them used as purses, project bags, travel organizers, teacher gifts, and everyday carry bags.

With two roomy exterior pockets and plenty of space inside, it's easy to see why this pattern continues to be a favorite.

Why Makers Love the Jefferson Bag

The Jefferson is one of those bags you'll reach for again and again. Makers have sewn them for work, travel, gifts, and everyday use.

Even when makers start with the same Bonded Nylon kit, every Jefferson Bag ends up looking different. Vinyl accents, fabric prints, zipper choices, pockets, and color combinations all help make each bag unique.

Like all Hippie Makers Club projects, the Jefferson includes a complete video tutorial so you can sew right along with me every step of the way.

The Jefferson Bag Pattern continues to be one of our most-loved Hippie Makers Club projects, and it's easy to see why.

One of my favorite parts of designing patterns is seeing what YOU create.

Every bag below started with the same pattern, but each maker brought their own personality to it.
