Press any pieced or embroidered block with ease. The density of this high-quality 100% felted wool mat localizes heat to the seams and stitches, effectively pressing both sides at once. An added bonus? The texture of the wool stops fabrics from shifting so there is no distortion when pressing.
Tips and Tricks For best results: use a dry iron when pressing.
When pressing an embroidered block, iron on the wrong side.
The wool mat will cushion the stitches and retain the texture of the embroidery design.
If the mat feels damp after use, hang to air-dry before storing.
Wash the mat occasionally by rinsing it in cold water and hang the mat until dry. If you choose to use starch, wait to press the fabric until it is completely dry. . Starch build-up can scorch the mat if not cleaned properly.
Recommended surfaces for the wool mat include Formica, Corian, stone, and metal (an ironing board). Wood and painted surfaces should be avoided. Never place the mat on a rotary cutting mat when pressing. The heat could warp the cutting mat.  (But yes, I do it all the time. -Natalie)

    Hello! We ship Monday - Friday. On US Federal Holidays no mail moves - you *may* see a label print, but it will leave the next mailing day. If we take a short break for vacation, it is announced ahead of time on all social media channels and in the newsletter. Are you signed up for my emails? They often contain treasures!  

    Orders will ship within 72 hrs. Super huge orders can take 3-5 days (these are usually wholesale orders and probably don't pertain to you).

    PRE ORDERS ship as stated in the listing -- usually these take some time to arrive. IF YOU COMBINE in stock items with a preorder they will ship TOGETHER at one time. Make a separate order if you need in-stock items sooner. Thanks!!

     

    We ship USPS First class mail and Priority Mail always, never ground. We ship UPS if you choose UPS, OR if it's more economical and faster than USPS.

    We DO ship to Canada through USPS or UPS if you choose it. We do NOT cover import fees. It is worth an email if you're concerned about the cost, before placing your order. I will weigh and estimate cost before processing.

    Local pick up is an option! Our store is located at 4860 Larson Beach Rd in McFarland, WI. We are open Wednesdays and Saturdays 12-4.

    Tracking info is ALWAYS sent by email as soon as the label is printed. Check your junk or promotions folders; it could have landed in one of them. After the initial tracking entry when the label is printed, additional tracking updates are provided by the carrier. Follow the tracking link you received by email to check the status on the carrier's site.

     

    Our mail system is pretty amazing when compared to the rest of the world and we are so grateful to the Carriers that make it happen! Once in a while a hiccup occurs. NO WORRIES! Let me know via email:  help@sewhungryhippie.com and I will do my best to help. 😄

    Vinyl is usually rolled and either wrapped in tissue or a protective bag, and sent that way. Some vinyl (soft metallic and moonglow for example) can be folded without causing damage, you can opt to iron it from the back side as well.  In any case, if your vinyl arrives with wrinkles you can simply place it in the sunshine OR use a hair dryer to warm it flat again, or iron it (wrong side only). If you think your vinyl is damaged, please email me and I will take care of you. 😊

    **Soft metallic vinyl, Stardust, croc, and Moonglow vinyl CAN be ironed from the wrong side. See my Guide for Sewing Vinyl for more info.

    If I made a mistake on your order OR if something arrives damaged, email me so I can fix it. The SewHungryhippie team strives for perfect but we are humans & are training new employees... Thank you for your grace. 

    Returns are accepted for damaged items and we will send you a return label. Returns for "changing your mind" are accepted at YOUR return shipping expense, and will be processed with a restocking fee of 10%
